“Rooftops of Tehran” is a semi autobiography book that show the main character life and his struggles. Passion, revolution, love, blood and grief are five words that will mostly pop in a reader's mind as they read the novel. Novel like these are one of a kind and I can’t express enough how much I adore this book. Even though it was for a class assignment, this is one of many book that have been assignment to read in my life this is the first book that I can’t put down. I can’t stop reading for each chapter are simple but each word etch in a reader’s mind and heart. Without spoiling anything this book is worth reading the drama and innocents are part of each character’s life which one can say “you can relate” to the stories. The vivid description of each scene is amazing as if you can see and you yourself is there at that moment. I can say that I have many favorite quotes. One, “People do amazing things for love. Books are full of wonderful stories about this kind of stuff, and stories aren’t just fantasies, you know. They’re so much a part of the people who write them that they practically teach their readers invaluable lessons about life.”-Pasha
Second “Nostalgia envelops me as I think of the past, when innocence ruled and wickedness existed only in the minds of imaginative storytellers.”-Pasha
I definitely recommends this book for anyone.

Rooftops of Tehran Platinum Readers Circle Center Point Mahbod Seraji 9781602855809 Books Reviews

It had me hooked from the start. At first, I wasn't sure if "Rooftops of Tehran" was for me. It isn't something I would usually read, but it exceeded my expectations. There were lots of hardships that the main character faced, but there were also lots of family and friend support to help him through things. The characters were very well written and their personalities' just made me love them all as the friendships blossomed. Also, with a bit of a love story and politcal problems, it was a good mix. I thought they balanced each other out well. This book even taught me some history with the mentions of the Persian government. I enjoyed this novel very much with all the different elements that were put into the story, it was eye opening to learn the cultural and relgious differences from the United States and Iran. "Rooftops of Tehran" has multiple different life lessons and is a great read. Highly reccommend!
As a requirement for my college English 1A course, I was skeptical about how good this book would really be. But as soon as I opened the first page and began reading, all my skepticism went away and felt as if I was transported into Pasha's world. This book is everything you could ask for from being a bit historical to thrilling to a bit horrific at some points as well. Throughout the novel we follow the life of Pasha in Tehran as he goes about his life being a seventeen year old boy wanting to have his own ideas and opinion with an oppressive government under the Shah around him as well as how he must also comply to his family issues as well. Through all this, Pasha seems to constantly attempt to remain a child and do simply childish things throughout the novel, but there is absolutely a sense of maturity and loss of innocence that can be seen occurring to Pasha through the events that occur in this novel. Overall, this was a fabulous novel and is absolute must read for all; and if you ever get a chance to hear the author speak about his novel, I highly recommend going.
I received, Rooftops of Tehran by Mahbod Seraji, for free in exchange for a review. The synopsis of the book immediately caught my attention. From the beginning I was excited to read this novel. The story takes place in Iran. The story shows how American involvement affects everyone and not always in a good way. The characters are well developed. The story has twists, that I never expected but kept the story going.

Pasha, Ahmed, Zari and Faheemah are the main characters. Pasha and Ahmed spend many hours on his rooftop talking, joking, dreaming of the love of their lives and contemplating life. Pasha fantasized being with Zari but she was to married off to a childhood friend. While Ahmed wanted to be with Faheemah and ended up dating with the approval of her parents. Pasha and his friends live in Iran in the 1970's where they are skeptical of religion, arrange marriage and the government of their country. The US is viewed as a place of opportunity but as a place that causes problems.

By reading this book I was able to gain insight to middle class life in Iran during the 1970's until the rule of the Shah. This is a coming of age book that appears simple in the beginning but as the story progresses life gets complicated due to arranged marriage customs, and modern ideas from western culture. School is a place that is run by petty tyrants and when rules are not obeyed punishment is what follows. At the core, is the fundamentalism of Iran's future.

The SAVAK is present everywhere and people of all ages feel their impact. SAVAK have an impact on Iranian culture and not in a good way. They cause confusion, heartbreak and even death.

This story is written in a fast paced narrative perspective. The author has developed the characters well. At the end of the story I felt like I was sitting on the rooftop with Pasha experiencing his life, the twists, the secrets and all that effected his life with him.

I give this book a 5/5 star rating

Thank you for reading. Please comment or ask questions if you wish.
