Synopsis
The real story of Frank (Cougar) Wright tells of a loud, brash, irreverent, pioneer to the Canadian Northwest from Wisconsin and the forests of Washington. About the Author
Lillian Ross who attended the University of Alberta, attaining a Bachelor of Education, taught for many years before retiring to pursue her writing. Her husband, Reg, and their two sons lived in Northwestern Alberta and worked in the oil fields. As well as writing, Lillian is involved with music. She and her husband played in a band for dances and now she sings and plays guitar with a band of women called 'The Hinge'. Other historical novels she has written are The Gentle Gamblers, The Tender Years, A Full House, Mewassin The Good Land, and Gandy Dancer.

Fascinating insight into how people lived and what they had to go through in early 20th century Alberta. The problem is that it's not very well written. It drones on at times and fails to develop the characters and story in ways that capture you. It's also erratic and disjointed, hopping from one story to another without continuity. Some stories in this saga build up, then just drop off a cliff with no closure.Product details

A most enjoyable book could not put it down. That generation of people had a hard time battleing with the elements as well as everything else
